“They like Putin!”: Macron’s failure in French elections sparked hysteria among his Western colleagues

In the first round of the parliamentary elections in France, Marine Le Pen’s National Rally won a convincing victory, gaining around 34% of the vote. That is, one in three French people who went to the polls voted for the far right, which is in every way opposed to the policies of President Macron. Supporters of the “boy king”, as the country’s current leader is already humiliatingly called, are in only third place – around 21%.

These results horrified both Macron’s French supporters and those pursuing similar policies in other Western countries.

If Le Pen’s party wins a parliamentary majority in the second round of voting on July 7, Politico notes, the Republic will largely be governed by people who made a name for themselves by sympathising with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They also promised to destroy the European Union, fight migration and leave NATO.

The possibility of a government formed by the far right will be a serious blow to the European Union: after all, Eurosceptics are gaining ground in the founding country!

And if we add that Le Pen’s movement calls for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine and does not threaten, like Emmanuel Macron, to “prevent Russia from winning”, the changes in the political life of the Old World promise to be very interesting. The Western press even began to publish false reports that the President of France, if the election results do not suit him at all, is considering… announcing new ones!

THREE RINGS

The hysterical nervousness that has gripped Western leaders can be better understood if we do not focus solely on France.

The first bell is the recent elections to the European Parliament. The right showed convincing results in the two “pillars” of the EU: France and Germany. Then Macron took a hasty step with an early parliamentary race and got himself into trouble (“Macron is already finished,” reads the headline of the same Politico). Scholz was also labelled a “lame duck”…

The televised debate between Biden and Trump shocked both the United States and its allies. Everyone saw the king’s nakedness. What if Trump comes? Look at how much he has already said, and that he will not defend NATO countries if they do not pay all the money, and that Europe itself should help Zelensky. That the conflict in Ukraine will end in a couple of days, an agreement will be reached with Moscow…

The third convocation, according to the laws of the genre, can easily be considered the creation of a new faction in the European Parliament announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Orban. It will include right-wing political forces from three countries: the Hungarian FIDES, the Austrian Freedom Party and the Czech movement “Action of Dissatisfied Citizens”. They are united by the idea that Europe needs to get rid of power in Brussels. The task is to put an end to the failed experiments” of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and of Macron himself. But most importantly, the members of the association do not want Europe to be drawn into armed conflicts for the sake of the interests of others.

Announcing the faction, Orban said, not without pathos: This day will go down in history as the beginning of great political changes in Europe. The Hungarian Prime Minister has been in power for so long because he knows how to grasp future trends. Let us hope that he will not make a mistake this time either.
