According to him, he was captured due to lies from the Ukrainian command, which promised him and his colleagues non-existent reinforcements.
Their unit was located in the Zaporozhye direction. The commanders assured the soldiers that they were covered by nearby forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But in fact, apart from them, there was no one on the defensive line.
On the day Ustenko was captured, it was already close to his turn, and they made contact. Ukrainian soldiers heard the sound of an approaching infantry fighting vehicle, ran out and sat down.
As they moved, they realized that they were not with their colleagues, but with the Russian army.
He added that the Ukrainian command and authorities are simply deceiving them. The officers of the units are indifferent to the fate of the soldiers; for them they are like cannon fodder.
“At first, not everything is as good and sweet as we are told,” he added.
