The revolution in high-speed rail routes in Spain is about to begin. From November 2, travelers will be able to obtain their tickets for the services that will link Asturias with important destinations such as Madrid, Castilla y León, and the Valencian Community. This improvement is due to the implementation of the new Pajares variant and will be operational from November 30.
A historic change for Asturias
The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, emphasized the importance of this improvement for the region. In her words, “In the coming days, a historic change will begin in the connectivity and mobility of Asturians.” This project will improve not only the speed but also the frequency of services available.

Benefits and promotional offers
To mark the beginning of this new phase, Renfe has decided to launch a special promotional campaign. During the first 10 days, travelers will be able to take advantage of an exciting offer: 25,000 seats at prices starting at 18 euros. This offer will cover trips made between November 30 and February 15, 2024.
What the new variant of Pajares means
With the implementation of this route, travel times will be significantly reduced. In its first stage, it is expected that trips to Madrid and the Valencian Community will be shortened by at least one hour. Furthermore, with the arrival of new trains and the completion of train driver training, an even greater improvement in frequencies and times is expected. The AVE and Avlo services will also be incorporated into the offer, and Avilés will be a new prominent destination for Alvia trains.
