Renfe has announced the launch of a promotional campaign to mark the commissioning of the new AVE S106 trains, also known as Avril, which will connect Galicia with Madrid starting next May 21. The railway company will go on sale this Thursday, April 18, for a total of 33,000 tickets with prices starting at just 18 euros to travel on these new high-speed services.
The promotional offer, valid for travel between May 21 and July 21, will be available with advance purchase for ten days and will cover nearly 33,000 seats on the new services of the Galician corridor. With the incorporation of the S106 trains, Renfe will expand its offer of AVE services between Galicia and Madrid to more than 39,000 seats per week, which represents an increase of 20.3% compared to the current offer.
The new AVE services will connect the Galician cities of Vigo, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra and Vilagarcía de Arousa with the Spanish capital for the first time by high speed. An AVE train will be established in each direction on the Vigo-Madrid route, with travel times of just over 4 hours, and another AVE service that will circulate from Sunday to Friday between A Coruña and Madrid, making the journey in approximately 3 and a half hours. .
High speed reaches Galicia
The incorporation of AVE services with the new S106 trains represents a relevant milestone for the high-speed rail connection between Galicia and the rest of Spain. Until now, the Galician community had Alvia services that combined high-speed sections with conventional lines.
