Turnout in Moscow City Duma elections reached 33.6 percent – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: September 16, 2024 Time: 23:21:18

As Alexander Asafov, a member of the Moscow Public Chamber, said at a briefing at the Election Monitoring Center, the turnout in the Moscow City Duma elections has already reached 33.6 percent.

“The public headquarters allows us to do a lot of things: from real control of the elections to real-time monitoring of any traces of electronic or paper voting. Judging by the figures, more than 2.5 million Muscovites have already voted, of which about 100,000 voted using an electronic system. Paper voting is less than 4 percent. These figures indicate citizens’ confidence in the remote electronic voting system. Until recently, we said that this system would become dominant in the mid-30s, but this has already happened in 2024, because it is. The main property is consumer convenience, how to buy something or order a service,” said Dmitry Orlov, director of the Agency for Political and Economic Communications, speaking to reporters.

According to an APEC study, older people (aged 50-60 or more) are loyal to electronic voting.

Orlov noted that the elections to the Moscow City Duma are taking place in an extremely calm atmosphere.

We remind you that Muscovites can vote online via the link elec.mos.ru at any time until 20:00 on September 8. Polling stations will be open from 08:00 to 20:00 today and tomorrow.
