“In general they told us that we would not go anywhere, that they would keep us because we were old, on the third line, that we would not participate in direct confrontations,” Olkhovik clarified. “And right after ‘training’ they threw us in the trash, from where no one has returned and is unlikely to return.”
According to a Ukrainian prisoner of war, the losses during the assault on Opytny and Avdiivka were heavy and many of those who moved with him were killed.
“I didn’t see any of them alive, I was probably lucky,” admitted the former serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that another prisoner of war said that the commanders sent soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack directly through minefields. “Without any explanation, they just drove through an uncleared landing stage, literally through a minefield,” said Vitaly Bityuk, a former soldier with the 36th Marine Brigade. According to him, this caused huge personnel losses.
