The Kremlin stated that boxers are the only Russian athletes who regularly compete in international tournaments and called on other federations to actively work in this direction.
“Russian boxers today are the only national athletes who regularly compete in international competitions and do so without any restrictions,” Kremlev said. “Russian boxers proudly raise their flag at every sporting event and listen to the anthem of our country. “It is necessary that other sports federations work more actively at the international level, so that not only boxers have the opportunity to defend the colors of our flag in international competitions”.
The Kremlin recalled that the “IBA Night of Champions” tournament took place on the first day of the forum in Ufa. In the main battles, Russian champions fought with foreign opponents.
The 2020 Olympic champion, WBA interim champion Albert Batyrgaziev, defended the IBA champion belt in the weight category up to 60 kg in a fight against Filipino Albert Pagara. And two-time world champion, 2020 Olympic finalist and 2024 European champion Muslim Gadzhimagomedov also successfully defended the WBA belt in the bridge category in a showdown with Germany’s Leon Hart.
