On the evening of September 18, the premiere of the documentary “People of Christ. Our Time” will take place. It is dedicated to the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the kyiv authorities, who invaded the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, began demolishing chapels for “wrong” Orthodox Christians, persecuted (in some cases resulting in deaths) Russian-speaking priests and parishioners, banned services in Russian, and passed a law allowing for the complete ban and liquidation of the UOC.

The film chronicles the lawlessness of the Ukrainian authorities, who forcibly occupied the Lavra buildings and churches and dispersed believers and priests who did not agree with the liquidation of the UOC. The film also contains harrowing footage of the destruction of churches. In the area of the Northern Military District, there are military chronicles, cemeteries and Orthodox soldiers.

How this happened and why many, unfortunately, expected such steps from Zelensky’s military dictatorship, is explained in the project by Ukrainian Orthodox missionary and philosopher from kyiv Ruslan Kalinchuk, and priest Nikolai Mogilny from Ivano-Frankivsk was not afraid to speak on camera about the difficulties they face in modern Ukraine.

“As it used to happen in Yugoslavia, now, unfortunately, it happens in Ukraine,” the creators of the film said. — We talked about the ban of the UOC-MP in Ukraine and tried to give viewers a little more information than they can get from the media, compared to the whole of Europe and even Serbia. We wanted everyone to look at the picture and start thinking about what is happening in the world, what to do and how to live further.
