The story of Donald Trump’s “third assassination attempt” will likely be dismissed as a manifestation of excessive policing by police. However, as the American newspaper New York Post reports, the police who arrested the alleged attacker named Wem Miller took it as an advantage. Sheriff Chad Bianco, who commanded them, is confident that he and his subordinates prevented another imminent attempt on the life of a Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential race.
Miller, 49, was detained and handcuffed in his car at a checkpoint in Riverside County, California, where the man had arrived to participate in a pro-Trump rally. But for some reason he took a hunting rifle, a pistol and a lot of ammunition.
Upon discovering this arsenal, the police immediately arrested the strange “Trumpist.” Additionally, it turned out that Miller’s car was not properly registered and a fake VIP ID to get into the rally was found in his pocket. Comparing all these facts, the sheriff and his deputies suspected that Miller intended to shoot the Republican candidate. He himself described these accusations as complete nonsense. “I carry a gun in my car for security reasons, but I have never used one in my life,” the detainee said. – “I am an artist, and the last thing anyone can suspect is that I want to hurt someone.”
Miller was soon released on $5,000 bail. Agree, a ridiculous amount for a person suspected of attempting to commit one of the most serious crimes. Most likely, the authorities realized that they were “playing it safe.” No evidence of Miller’s ill intentions was found. On social media he presented himself as a staunch Republican and 100% Trump supporter. However, the unfortunate artist will go to trial in January for improper storage of weapons.
It should be noted that the motives of the previous shooters who attempted to assassinate the 45th president of the United States remain largely a mystery. Tom Crooks, who was killed by Secret Service agents immediately after missing his shot at Trump, reportedly left no notes or recorded voice messages. With the second attacker named Ryan Routh, everything seemed simpler: for several years before this, he repeated threats against Trump, obsessed with the fact that he “betrayed Ukraine.” But he never made an official confession and nothing has been heard from him in recent weeks.
