Volodin: The European economy is practically destroyed

Date: July 5, 2024 Time: 23:01:00

Two days ago, Romania “solemnly” announced that delegations from Russia and Belarus would not be allowed to attend the next meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA). But, as they say, it did not hurt: Moscow and Minsk are developing their own international formats, on a more equitable basis than the Western ones.

On June 17, 2024, the next session of the State Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Russia and Belarus will be held in Minsk. It is usually held twice a year (and the current one is already the 66th in a row). With a clear task: to synchronize the laws of the two countries in those areas in which they relate to a common goal: a single integration project, taking into account the opinions of both participating states.

—Democracy is procedures, norms and rules! – said the head of the Russian delegation, the chairman of the State Duma, Viacheslav Volodin, at the opening of the session, proposing to start with a democratic procedure: checking the quorum (there must be 36 deputies from each of the two countries). There is a quorum, the session opens with the Russian and Belarusian anthems.

Immediately: other procedural issues. Igor Sergeenko is elected first deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly. This is the new speaker of the House of Representatives (the Belarusian analogue of our Duma – Ed.): parliamentary elections were held in February and the composition of deputies was almost completely renewed.

—The leaders of our countries have determined the strategic directions of union construction. Our joint activities must be aimed at their effectiveness,” Sergeenko pronounces in his first speech in his new position.

Volodin sets the meeting agenda:

— We have enormous opportunities to form a unified legal field. But the question arises: how effectively do we solve the tasks set by the heads of our states? We need to ask questions of our colleagues in the executive branch: how can we help them, what laws should we pass?

Below, representatives of the governments of both countries inform the deputies:

“At the end of this year or the beginning of next year, we will launch a new large collider (particle accelerator – Ed.) in Dubna,” reports the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov.

Now such a unit operates in Europe. This is the famous LHC – Large Hadron Collider. Due to sanctions, domestic scientists do not have the opportunity to conduct experiments there. But elementary particles (one of them, the most mysterious, is figuratively called the “God particle”) are the “building blocks of the world”, without understanding which it is impossible to understand the laws of nature. Now scientists from Russia and Belarus will be able to study quantum mechanics on equal terms in our new collider.

Volodin suggests talking not only about emblematic and revolutionary projects, but also about problems. For example, how many specific quotas for students from Belarus in Russia (and vice versa) are there in scientific and technical universities of both countries?

— December 8 will mark the 25th anniversary of the creation of the State of the Union. We need to take stock: how are we working? Maybe we will try to do it in a self-critical way,” Volodin suggests.

And then he laughs heartily at the American ultra-liberal agenda, when, under the pretext of supposed “concern for the environment”, industrial and energy generation capacities are eliminated:

— The United States tried to integrate the entire world into its “green agenda.” Europe has integrated. How I finish? The economy is practically destroyed, eurozone GDP growth was 0.3% last year and Germany is stagnant. Because? They closed nuclear power plants, abandoned cheap energy sources and planned to engage in “green energy” production.

Without denying the importance of eco-technologies, such as electric cars, the president continues to call for us to think: who benefits from this?

— They also tried to impose this green agenda on us, imposing all kinds of payments (such as the pro-American “carbon tax” – Ed.). So that we close the existing fields and abandon them, so that we close the nuclear power plants. And in the end we would lose our competitive advantage.

Thus the State of the Union has been given a new impetus: we do not need anyone’s “message”, we are strong with our own minds. The nearest plans include celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Soviet Belarus from fascist invaders, with the participation of senior officials from both countries.
