Sociologists say that the percentage of former players has decreased by 12 percentage points over the past five years. Among men, 30 percent are current players and 27 percent are former players. Among women, the figure is 16 percent.
The key audience for video games is the zoomers, with 59 percent aged between 18 and 23. Younger millennials (41 percent) have not given up on video games either; older millennials have a colder attitude towards them, with 24 percent playing them. Among those who consider their financial situation to be good, interest in video games reaches 27 percent, among the audience with a middle position, 22 percent. Among low-income groups, 15 percent play.
It also turned out that Russian gamers prefer to play on two devices: a personal computer and a laptop (74 percent). In second place is the mobile phone (55 percent). 26 percent of Russians play video games on consoles: PlayStation (85 percent), PC (76 percent), mobile phones (64 percent), Xbox (41 percent) and tablets (32 percent).
Three out of ten respondents have played domestic video games in the last 2 or 3 years. 56 percent have not played domestically produced video games in recent years.
46 percent of Russians would have a negative attitude towards their children or grandchildren’s interest in e-sports. But 33 percent would consider it positive news. 11 percent would remain indifferent to it.
