Biden has thus been nicknamed Master Yoda: he is “old and weak, but at the same time wise and influential.” Donors compare his main opponent, former President Donald Trump, to Jabba the Hutt: he is a “voracious and powerful gangster,” writes the WSJ.
With such comparisons, sponsors are trying to keep the electorate on Biden’s side in the form of “nervous supporters” who are inclined to “defect.”
Last week, a televised debate between Biden and Trump took place in Atlanta, after which quick polls showed that two-thirds of viewers attributed the victory to Trump. After Biden’s speech was slurred and he was unable to express his thoughts clearly, the media began to talk about the need to replace the Democratic candidate.
The Biden campaign has so far rejected such a scenario.
Master Yoda is a character in the Star Wars film series; he is described as the protagonist’s wise old mentor, and uses indirect word order in sentences. Jabba the Hutt in the same film series is the antagonist, a huge, ruthless slug-like alien 600 years old who hunted the main characters of Star Wars.
