These are the conclusions reached by analysts of the Check Index service, which analyzes anonymous aggregated data from the OFD from more than 1.1 million online cash registers in Russia, and partner experts. The authors of the study found that Russians began to prepare in advance for abnormal heat and bought climate control equipment even before the temperature rose. Yes, most of us know firsthand what urban heat is. And the onset of heat in late June and early July further fueled the seasonal consumer rush, which showed record numbers. In May-June 2024, 61% more fans were purchased than in the same period last year. And there are 45% more air conditioners. Boilers also increased their sales (+17%), due to the period when hot water was turned off.

The same “Check Index” studied how sales of swimwear are changing. Thus, in the month – from June 1 to July 3, 2024 – the number of purchases was 31% higher than a year ago. And if we take as a starting point the week from June 24 to July 3, then the number of purchases of swimwear increased by as much as 101%, that is, it doubled. The main purchases include products from 2 to 5 thousand rubles, mainly domestic brands. The average price of swimwear in June was 2,944 rubles.
