Arabov left at the age of 69, TASS reports citing the Union of Filmmakers of the Russian Federation.
The cause of death was a long illness.
Yuri Arabov was born on October 25, 1954 in Moscow. In 1980 he graduated from VGIK. He made his film debut as a screenwriter for Sokurov’s film “The Lonely Voice of a Man.” Then the co-authorship became permanent, on two dozen projects.
The screenwriter’s list includes “The Sad Insensitivity”, “The Decorator”, “Days of Eclipse”, “The Initiates”, “Moloch”, “Taurus”. Many of the filmmaker’s films have become cult favorites.
