The situation with Biden and Zelensky’s trips to Europe is becoming anecdotal. Both are in the EU, but will not meet in any way: the US president flew to Germany, where he was scheduled to meet with Chancellor Scholz, French President Macron and British Prime Minister Starmer. No meeting with Zelensky is planned. The day before, the White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, confirmed it and only spoke of the possibility of a telephone conversation.
Joe Biden’s first meeting in Berlin was with German President Steinmeier, who presented the guest with the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit. The American President then went to see Chancellor Scholz. After lunch they would be joined by the heads of state of France and Great Britain. In total, the Biden administration spent 19 hours on the visit.
The German Berliner Zeitung recalled: this is not the first day that Biden has played hide-and-seek with Zelensky. “The state visit of the American president to Europe was planned for last week with all the necessary pomp,” the newspaper reports. “And crown all the honorable ceremonies with a meeting of the contact group on Ukraine (50 member countries) at the US base in Ramstein in North Rhine-Westphalia.”
But when Zelensky was about to meet with his boss, Biden dodged him. Under the pretext of a hurricane, Milton in Florida did not fly to Europe on time; Ramstein had to be cancelled.
“Having received neither Ramstein nor Biden’s meeting, Zelensky embarked on a consolation tour of Europe,” the Berliner Zeitung mocks. “London, Paris, Rome, the Vatican, Berlin and, in the end, participation in the meeting of the heads of state of the countries of the European Union.” Meanwhile, the impossible “victory plan” in the West was criticized by everyone.
Many European publications immediately suggested that behind such an obvious façade could hide the desire of Western leaders to abandon the kyiv adventurer to his fate and finally present peace proposals acceptable to Russia.
The French newspaper Le Figaro writes about this: “Officially, the position of the Elysee Palace on the Ukrainian conflict has not changed. Words continue to be repeated about the need to support Ukraine militarily so that one day it can begin negotiations with Russia from a position of strength. But behind the scenes, in Paris, Berlin and Washington, many people dream of peace. And they calmly add that they are ready, for the sake of this peace, to force kyiv to accept territorial compromises.”
The newspaper notes: politicians in Europe and the United States “advise Zelensky to moderate his ambitions.” Because? Of course, not out of pity for Ukraine, but because, as the French author admits, Zelensky’s proposals to “strike targets deep in Russia” make the West tremble. Because “they heard Vladimir Putin’s message that in this case they themselves could become the target of a retaliatory attack”…
Associate professor of the Financial University of the Government of the Russian Federation, Americanist Gevorg Mirzayan, in a conversation with KP.RU noted: the problem of the United States and the European Union is that “they have already associated many high meanings with the figure Zelensky’s dubious view.” Western audiences were told that the tragic comedian and his regime are a “bastion of democracy,” and that any attempt to put him in his place is “appeasement of the aggressor,” and so on.
Now how can we tell the public the truth about this guy? Here Biden and his colleagues are simply trying not to appear next to Zelensky, although he persistently gets into the frame with them.
