However, in this case, one should not sharply press the accelerator pedal, says the expert. At low speeds, the oil pressure in the system is low, and if the accelerator is pressed, due to a sharp increase in gas pressure during working strokes in the cylinders, the lubrication of the crankshaft bearings will deteriorate.
In addition, at low revs, due to the low intensity of oil splashes in the crankcase, the lubrication of the cylinder walls deteriorates. Consequently, if you increase the speed sharply, fighting may occur.
Another danger of low speeds is the growth of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber and on the spark plugs, as well as the appearance of carbon deposits in the boost pressure control system of cars with turbo engines.
However, the expert warns that prevention by stepping on the accelerator in a parking lot to reach high speeds is ineffective and very dangerous for the health of the engine.
“If you “accelerate” in neutral, then the pressure in the cylinder is not enough, the weak pressure of the rings does not remove heat and the piston can start to melt,” warns Alexey Revin, reminding that you cannot “accelerate” with a cold engine or when strange sounds appear.
