Junji Ito’s ‘Uzumaki’ to Premiere in 2024 | The Spaghetti Code

Date: July 7, 2024 Time: 15:57:21

It’s been about 84 years since anything was known about one of Junji Ito’s most mysterious stories, Uzumaki, which will be made into an anime series, however, this adaptation had some delays and there was no news for a while and I thought they had cancelled it, but it seems that’s not the case.

According to a report by JapanTimes, which featured an interview with the author of the work himself, he commented on the series and somehow confirmed that the anime is planned to air at some point before the end of 2024.

However, no further details were given on the matter, such as a specific day or month for Uzumaki, so we’ll have to wait for more news soon, as this isn’t the first time they’ve mentioned a possible release date and nothing has happened.

But that wasn’t the only thing our favorite mangaka said, as he assured that the production of 1 of the 4 episodes that will be in the Uzumaki anime has already been completed. Without a doubt, this project was one of the main ones affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is now progressing very well and its premiere is getting closer.

Meanwhile, Junji Ito has already seen the first episode of Uzumaki and confirms that it lives up to his expectations, a comment that will no doubt add to the excitement among fans as Junji Ito’s works are synonymous with quality as well as his creative approach to the essence of the horror genre will be present.

The anime is being produced by two studios, Studio Drive and Studio Akatsuki. The story takes us to a small fog-shrouded town on the Japanese coast called Kuruzu, which is cursed. Shuichi Saito, Kirie Goshima’s boyfriend, says that his house is haunted, but not by a person, but by a pattern, a spiral, carrying a hypnotic secret and shaping the world.
