Shu Sakuratani’s manga Rooster Fighter is finally getting an anime adaptation, VIZ Media confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. Starring the rooster Keiji, the series will air on Adult Swim, with a release date still to be confirmed.

Released in December 2020, Rooster Fighter tells the story of a lonely rooster named Keiji who roams the streets of Japan defeating mutant demons. Your goal is to destroy the “White Demon” who killed the protagonist’s sister.

Under the phrase “The Rooster Who Will Save the World,” the trailer showed a quick battle between Keiji and a pair of evil demons. As the fight progresses, you can see some of the main character’s abilities, such as super speed or the iconic “Kokekokko” that defeats the bird’s enemies.

Shu Sakuratani, the author of the work, celebrated the adaptation of his work on his X account, where he uploaded a special illustration. “My long-awaited dream has come true, thank you very much to everyone who supported me,” he added in his post.

VIZ Media has confirmed that the studio in charge of animating the Rooster Fighter story will be Daisuke Suzuki through Studio Sanzigen, known for producing 009 Re:Cyborg or the BanG Dream! franchise.

With Hiroshi Seko overseeing the manga adaptation, the work continues to be published on the Complex Hero Inc. website, which has collected the 32 chapters across volumes 7 and 8, which will be released on August 5.

Rooster Fighter’s popularity has been quite unique, as the manga has been distributed in countries such as Mexico, Spain, and Argentina, although it is also available in over 12 countries.
