Ak Bars intends to part ways with Barber. The player is seeking an exchange, contract termination is possible

Ak Bars is looking for options to exchange forward Riley Barber and at the same time is considering the option of terminating his contract. A source familiar with the situation told the Championship. “The triumph of common sense.” Alexander Medvedev on the changes in the rules of the game in the KHL

SKA board chairman Alexander Medvedev said that changing the interpretation of the penalty for tripping is common sense. “This rule cannot be changed, but it was necessary. This is the triumph of common sense,” TASS quotes Medvedev as saying.

Recall that on July 18, the KHL press service officially published changes to the league rules for the upcoming season. The interpretation of tripping has been adjusted: if the goalie first plays the puck and then trips it, there will be no penalty. If a skater first makes contact with the puck and then trips it, there will also be no penalty. Other changes include that the goalie can throw the puck towards the opponent’s goal. Previously, the goalie received a light fine for this.

Panarin answered the question of whether Znarok finished his coaching career

New York Rangers forward Artemy Panarin said that former Russian national team coach, his father-in-law Oleg Znarok, has not yet completed his coaching career.

“Has Oleg Znarok completed his career? I don’t think so. But he is enjoying life now. Having a grandfather is a very important moment for children. Especially this format. We will definitely try the guys in sports. If he passes on his experience from a young age, it will be good. But I think he can, of course, go on a business trip (smiles),” Panarin said on Match TV.

Oleg Znarok’s last place of work was Ak Bars Kazan, which the specialist left in December 2022. Znarok is on the second line of the list of coaches with the most victories in the history of the KHL.

Last season, Panarin played in 82 games, scoring 49 goals and providing 71 assists with an average PIR of +18. In the playoffs, the Russian played in 16 games, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists with an average PIR of -2.

Sportsnet included three Russians in the list of the 25 most intriguing NHL free agents of 2025

Sportsnet includes three Russian players in the top 25 of the most intriguing unrestricted free agent prospects in 2025 who could be in the crosshairs of clubs.

The list of Russian players is as follows:

Dmitry Orlov, Carolina Hurricanes. Orlov signed a two-year deal with Carolina last summer. Their defensive line took a hit with the loss of Brett Pesce and Brady Shea in free agency this year. Now Orlov’s contract expires after the 2024/2025 season.

Vladislav Gavrikov, Los Angeles Kings. Like Orlov, Gavrikov signed the deal in 2023, likely with the expectation of re-entering the free market under more favorable financial circumstances in 2025. However, his contract with the club could be extended before the free-agent market hits.

Ivan Provorov, Columbus Blue Jackets. Provorov was drafted by Columbus last summer in hopes of becoming a much more competitive team than last season. Provorov was the seventh overall pick in the 2015 draft. Over his eight-year career, he spent over 23 minutes per game on the field and scored about 30 points per season.

Shesterkin, like Crosby, Draisaitl, Rantanen, Marchand, were not included in this list, as they were named as the main candidates to renew their contracts in the near future.
