Maxim, of course, made a very strange statement. Especially against the background of talks about his conflict with Karpin. Especially when Karpin refutes the conflict. And steps forward. And then oops!, friendly fire again. And now there is talk that Glushenkov has no place in the national team.

If you want, Glushenkov can easily justify himself, and you can find a dozen arguments why the matches of the Russian national team during the ban are boring, uninteresting and generally unnecessary. It is also easy to “kill” Glushenkov – to start “talking about important things” or “patriotism” with him. You can simply say that the team plays to live and establish connections, to listen to Karpin’s demands. Upon his return, these connections (and connections in the team) will play a key role. By the way, the last argument is closest to me, but I have no desire to justify Glushenkov, let alone try to “kill” him. This is your opinion, you are right. Judging by previous comments, Maxim was never shy. And such a straightforward character is rather an advantage for a footballer.

Does this quality make Glushenkov special? Certainly. Even after the Super Cup match and the words about “clowns” and “haters”, I wrote to my colleagues that a “new Dziuba” is growing in our country. He is brilliant both on and off the field, a charismatic leader. We have few of these. Now we add to the collection of comparisons the fight (well, “misunderstanding”) with Karpin.
Do you need to show your uniqueness everywhere? For Maxim, it seems that there is nothing wrong with this. Yes, you can reply to clown emojis on Telegram. You can say hello to haters. Or, in the spirit of Arshavin, declare that you will not go to the middle or to an outsider from the European top league. Being so honest and open is even cool. And rarely for our football.

But the words about the uselessness of the national team matches are not an attack on anonymous people on social networks. This is an attack on Karpin and his own partners. Maxim, in fact, stands above them. And if for Latyshonok, Paltsev, Vorobyov and Musaev the debut for the national team in the match against Vietnam is a happy event (they all said how happy they were to play for the country), then how will Glushenkov run alongside them on the field, whom he “saved” from going to Vietnam, dear God”? Or, in the case of a match with the Uruguayan national team, the trip will suddenly become desirable?
Now I don’t believe in calling Glushenkov up for the national team. If he wanted to “say goodbye” to the national team in his own words, it should work. Karpin’s integrity is unlikely to fail (if so, I would be very surprised). Yes, officially Maxim, of course, did not refuse her, and is even ready to leave. But there are doubts about the real motivation.
If Maxim wanted to provoke Karpin, he had to choose a wording that would not offend his potential teammates. Like, for example, Dziuba.
Or maybe Maxim didn’t want anything. And he just blurted out without thinking about the consequences.
