Talking about the new episode of “House of the Dragon” is not easy, because it is just like all the others: clean, measured and outrageously beautiful. The characters are also in no hurry and prefer conversations and planning to open combat. The focus is on family conflicts that continue to develop and develop. Throughout the timeline there are hints of future events that will very soon change the war.
In another series, that slowness would be a nightmare, but “House of the Dragon” benefits from it. Yet here every frame is elegant, every event logical and appropriate. Except for the recent excursion to King’s Landing, that is.

However, many will remember the sixth episode not for the strong moves and Rhaenyra’s incredible luck, which changed the balance of power and turned a disastrous situation into a winning one. In fact, a romantic event is quite appropriate. Compare it to the Frenchman’s arc in “The Boys” – there was no rhyme or reason there. In House of the Dragon, we follow Rhaenyra’s crumbling life for many episodes – she is forced to fight not only the Greens, but also her husband, her son, and her own Council. This situation will break anyone and force them to look for a shoulder to lean on. Rhaenyra found that shoulder – don’t blame her.

The rest of the episode is undeniably good. There is no action in it, but the situation changes quickly, the dialogues are fascinating and the feeling of tragedy is getting closer and closer. This is what we expect from House of the Dragon.
What happens in episode six?
The Greens are slowly gathering forces towards Harrenhal and are supported by Aemond, who will fly to Vhagar and destroy Daemon. But the regent cares nothing for the soldiers’ expectations: he orders them to move to the battlefield and is in no hurry to saddle the dragon.
During a Council meeting, Aemond removes Alicent from office, orders an alliance with the Triarchy’s sworn enemy, and also spits on the problems of the people, who are starving and looking askance at the authorities. His only sensible order is to restore Otto Hightower to his position as Hand. Admittedly, he is busy with the war and has not yet responded.
Aemond is dangerous and impulsive.

Misaria’s agents take advantage of the authorities’ indifference and make rebellious speeches. The hungry people listen and nod in agreement. When things get really tough for the commoners, ships full of food arrive on shore. This is Rhaenyra’s gift to the people of King’s Landing.
People are grabbing food, rioting and praising Rhaenyra, and the guards are trying to restore order. As a result, everything turns into an open rebellion: Alicent and Helaine miraculously escape the angry mob.
At this time, Aegon Targaryen is in pain and periodically regains consciousness. Aemond visits his brother and hints: it is better for the injured character to stay in bed and forget about the throne. A little later, Laris Strong says that Aegon’s vulnerability will become his strength, but cripples are often underestimated.

Rhaenyra seeks out the Targaryen bastards to turn them into free dragonriders. The choice falls on Lord Darklin, who attempts to saddle Sea Smoke. At first, the fire-breathing monster bows its head, but suddenly it burns the lord and flies away.
The allies are generally unhappy with Rhaenyra. She even has to beat up the insolent Lord Barthimos. Rhaenyra’s only support is Mysaria. The girls have a heart-to-heart and their relationship takes an unexpected turn.
Soon, Sea Smoke arrives in the lands of Velaryon and drives the crowd away by the sea. The dragon is especially interested in Addam, the illegitimate son of Corlys and the distant bastard of the Targaryens. After a while, the monster catches up with Addam. It would seem that tragedy cannot be avoided, but in the next frame the news reaches Rhaenyra: Sea Smoke has been seen with a rider. It turns out that the plan about dragons and bastards is working.
Addam and Alina’s arc finally moves forward

Damon continues to have intrusive dreams and go mad. At one point, his psychosis nearly causes him to kill Strong’s allies. Damon is unable to raise an army and is aware of his health problems, so he wants to leave Harrenhal.
Alice Rivers dissuades the hero; according to her, in three days the situation in the Riverlands will change. And indeed, at that moment the Lord of the Riverlands dies, presumably due to Alys Rivers’ “treatment”. Now a supporter of Damon has come to power in these parts.
