I reacted because at that moment there was an aggressive gesture towards me. I think any normal person would react in some way to protect themselves. This is a common reaction. But I perfectly understand that I am the coach of Spartak and I should be above that. “I apologize to Russian football for what happened.”
Abaskal attended the meeting personally, accompanied by a lawyer and a translator. Apparently this moved everyone. After all, it’s not often that the culprits come alone. These are the words of Grigoryants after the trial.
“Abaskal participated in the meeting along with a lawyer and a translator. He admitted that his behavior was wrong. He apologized again. He said he would accept any punishment. We have reviewed all the videos. The decision is to disqualify Abascal for three games, one of which is suspended. The trial period is one year. Abascal’s apologies influenced the punishment. Otherwise it could have been harsher. Abascal regretted his actions. He said that the coach should not behave like that,” stated the CDC president.

Karpin will also miss the next game. For words in the air
The Rostov coach received a lighter punishment: one game of total disqualification and the second, suspension. All because after the game against CSKA he called those who decided to play in the snow “imbeciles” and “idiots.” However, he did not specify who exactly.
He didn’t come to the meeting. He didn’t apologize to anyone in particular. Therefore, I received no leniency.

We asked the judge to provide an additional report on the communication with Karpin. The judge said Karpin calmly asked the question: “Who made the decision to play the match?” The answer was given, but Valery Georgievich asked again. The judge responded that it was his decision. Karpin pointed his finger: “We have to think.” Karpin knew before the interview that the decision had been made by the judge. We spoke with him, he explained to us that he did not fully believe that the judge made the decision. Karpin admitted that these words were probably said in vain. He was willing to receive the punishment, but he warned that it was impossible to play in those conditions.”
In addition, Rostov defender Viktor Melekhin, who was eliminated at the end of the match against CSKA, was disqualified for two matches. The protocol included the entry “aggressive behavior, hitting an opponent with the ball during a stoppage of play.”
