The main match of the Fonbet Russian Cup round was held in Moscow. Krasnodar came to visit CSKA, having beaten the military team twice this season.
As expected, both teams made a lot of changes to their squad. For example, Vladislav Torop took his place in CSKA’s goal, while Danil Krugovoy, Ivan Oblyakov and Tamerlan Musaev remained on the reserve team. Abbosbek Fayzulaev made the perfect shot: the ball went straight into the nearest corner. Dupin put Krasnodar past with a beautiful jump. Instead of a magnificent goal, it was just a corner kick.
CSKA competently blocked all zones, and Krasnodar had big problems in attack. To be honest, the match lacked some drive. Musaev, in an attempt to somehow change the game, sent both Smolov and Spertsyan onto the field. It didn’t improve matters. Fedor even got hurt – Moses took it quite hard. The forward returned to the field, but periodically grimaced in pain.

Krasnodar’s attack looked rather inert. It was surprising that the visitors repeatedly used long passes that went nowhere. Even Cordoba’s exit from the pitch did not change this scenario. CSKA should have scored the second goal, but substitute Rifat Zhemaletdinov shot the ball wide from a good position.
But CSKA still scored the second goal. Faizullaev made a great cross and Matvey Kislyak reinforced the military team’s lead with a header. It is not clear what the Krasnodar defence was doing. Matvey found himself completely alone and calmly took advantage of the opportunity.

Krasnodar ended its 11-match unbeaten streak. The last time the Bulls lost was in mid-July, when they failed to beat Zenit (2-4) in the Russian Super Cup. However, Musaev’s team retained the top spot in the Cup group, but CSKA came close. The Bulls have nine points, the Red-Blues eight.
