Maintaining 50% of your weight is a task for the Titans, where a fragile girl defeated strong men

Date: July 1, 2024 Time: 18:21:13

Titans, according to mythology, possess incredible strength, both physically and mentally. It is not for nothing that the most difficult tasks are often called “titanic work.” It seems that this is exactly what the participants of the Titans program encountered. Artificial intelligence, as always, has challenged athletes, but not all of them have been able to cope with it.

What we will tell you about:

leader of the “Street Athletics” sports movement

“This task left the most powerful and heaviest athletes out of the show. Let’s find out why.”

test rules

The essence of the test is to maintain the charge. Since the athletes have different weights, an individual apparatus was prepared for each one. Ice was tied to the rope, the mass of which was equal to 50% of the participant’s mass. Athletes had to hold the rope with their hands as long as possible, but it was prohibited to hold it with their legs, neck, shoulders or head.

What results did the athletes show?

The winner of the stage with the best time was the world champion in aerial sports Anna Logashova. She was able to hold half her body weight for 60 minutes. The second best result was achieved by the climber and stuntman Magomedrasul Rabadanov, who did not let go of the rope for 39 minutes and 5 seconds. European arm wrestling champion Maxim Bitarov and Olympic medallist and world champion in artistic gymnastics Daria Nagornaya shared third place with a result of 31 minutes and 52 seconds.

The worst results were shown by men, including Russian street lifting champion Ruslan Sadykov, two-time European rugby champion Kirill Kosharin and even weightlifter and 40-time world champion Dmitry Zhemarkin. So why was the fragile girl able to defeat big and strong men by such a margin? Let’s figure it out together.

How to face the test?

To win, you need to have not only physical strength, but also the ability to correctly distribute muscle work. Let’s consider all the factors that influence the successful completion of the task.

Firstly, the lower the dead weight, the less the load to bear. The winner, whose own weight was 40-42 kilograms, held a rope with a weight of 20 kilograms in her hands. Secondly, some of the load could be reduced by choosing the right position: if you put your whole body in opposition, the load is halved.

But the key factor in this test was precisely special physical training. It is characterized by the selective development of individual muscles and muscle groups that carry the main load when performing exercises. For a trapeze artist, this is the development of grip strength, since the entire main load falls on the hands.

Special physical training or SPT It is an intentional process for the development and improvement of physical condition, necessary and characteristic of the chosen sport.

The athletes who achieved the best time also have the same special physical training to develop grip strength: mountain climber, arm wrestling, cyclist and artistic gymnast. All these sports are characterized by an emphasis on arm and hand training, ensuring successful performance in competitions and achieving high results.

When holding the rope, athletes used several types of grip: squeezing and holding. There is also a third one – the pinch grip. Of course, to be successful you will need strong arm muscles, from the hands to the shoulders.

Exercises to develop your grip:

dumbbell curls; farmer’s walk; holding the weight in front of you; hanging from a horizontal bar with a wrist expander;

Mass and a large number of muscles do not always pave the way to victory, as this test showed. The harmonious development of the entire body is the key to victories, although not as big as those of the show participants.
