The cult series “Daddy’s Daughters” returned to television screens with new episodes ten years later! Almost all of the main actors (with the exception of Anastasia Sivaeva) appeared in the reboot, even though some of them abandoned their acting careers immediately after the end of the previous season of the series. For example, Ekaterina Starshova, known for her role as Button, has been developing as a figure skater all this time.
Why have few people heard about this, if figure skating has been at the peak of popularity in Russia for many years? The fact is that Starshova chose a rather unusual direction – theater on ice. Katya never had sporting ambitions, so she decided to explore figure skating from the artistic side.

In Starshova, a versatile personality was brought up from a very early age. At the age of three, Katya was sent to figure skating and after a while she began to visit the aesthetic and beauty center, where she studied dance, singing, acting and modeling. At the age of five, Starshova found herself at the casting for the comedy “Daddy’s Daughters”, after which she received the role of Button, the youngest of the Vasnetsov sisters. Despite the heavy workload on the set, Katya continued to attend various sections, including figure skating.
It was no coincidence that ice appeared in the girl’s life. The fact is that Katya’s mother, Elena Mikhailovskaya, is a master of figure skating. The parents had no ambitions to make Starshova an Olympic champion; They sent her daughter to the ice more for her general development. Therefore, Katya did not attend a standard sports school, where highly qualified figure skaters train, but an ice theater.
“Was there any desire to join the Tutberidze team? The Tutberidze team, when I was sent to the ice, did not yet exist. Initially my parents didn’t aim to send me somewhere super professional. Apparently, they were aiming to send me to the maximum number of places, and not to one thing on purpose. I never skated in a sports school, I don’t even have any rank,” Starshova said in an interview with “Speak.”

After finishing filming “Daddy’s Daughters”, Katya decided to pursue herself in figure skating. The girl said that during the five years that the series was filmed, she became so oversaturated with acting that she wanted to develop herself into something else. The choice fell on the ice theater: this activity was similar to what Katya had been doing in recent years, but at the same time it was a completely different industry. Starshova had no ambitions to delve deeper into the sport and chase major titles.
“Did you have any desire to become an Olympic champion? I have never skated in sports, they are completely different things. We had a studio and it was like a hobby for all the kids who went there. The kids who go to sports schools, that’s all they live for. I never had such ambitions, because we are generally from different worlds. We’re all on skates, but we don’t cross paths at all.
In our studio we put on a lot of acts, we even put on fairy tales in which you play a full-fledged character. This was also an interesting experience, because I knew how to play in front of the camera, but when you play on ice, your gestures are much broader, your appearance is more ridiculous; here you also have to improve yourself. Cinema is something else: there you play like in real life,” Starshova explained in an interview with “Speak.”

The young man from Starshova is also a figure skater
Katya repeatedly thought about changing careers, at some point she even went to study at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Moscow State University. But the ice still won’t let go. Now figure skating is Starshova’s main activity. She skates in ice shows all over the world and she really enjoys what she does.
“I made a decision: as long as I have the physical capabilities, I will skate. On the ice, all the emotions that have been building up spill out of me. This is good and important for me,” Starshova shared.
In addition to work, Katya is also involved in figure skating for love. Her boyfriend Vasily is also a figure skater. They worked together in ice theater, skated as a pair, and at some point realized that their cooperation had grown into something more.

“Even though we’ve known each other for a long time, we don’t spend much time away from the skating rink. But it just so happened that we started a relationship. We’ve been together for five years. There has been no marriage proposal yet. “I’m not sure I understand how necessary marriage and wedding are,” Katya admitted.
