Romania prepares a new surprise at Euro 2024 and Depay will push

The group stage of the European Championship in Germany is everything. Before you could blink, it was time for the knockout matches. The playoff stage started on June 29 and will end today, July 2. Among others, the national teams of Romania and the Netherlands will compete for access to the quarter-finals. The match will take place in Munich, with German referee Felix Zweyer blowing the whistle at 19:00 Moscow time. And before we make any predictions, let’s get to know what the bookmakers think.
Enough of Romania and the playoffs
The bookmakers consider the Dutch national team to be the clear favourites in the upcoming round of 16 match of the 2024 European Championship. Betting on their victory in regular time is offered at a rate of 1.45, which is equivalent to a probability of 68%. In general, I am silent about reaching the quarter-finals in any case: the odds are 1.18 (84%).
Romania managed to win Group E, but the chances are, according to analysts, illusory. A Romanian victory in regular time is available at odds of 9.20 (10%), and access to the next round is available at odds of 5.20 (around 16%). They do not really believe in a draw either and offer odds of 4.50.
Depay must shoot
Despite such a strong advantage in the odds of victory, bookmakers do not expect a defeat for the Dutch team. Even a victory with a handicap of at least two goals has a coefficient of 2.22, which translates into a probability of less than 50%. And the Dutch individual total of over 2.5 goals is available with odds of 3.00.
However, experts do not have much faith in the Romanian national team’s exploits. If the Romanians score, the odds will be 2.00. You can bet on goals in both directions for 2.32. In this case, a total of over 2.5 goals is estimated with a coefficient of 2.02, and a total of under 2.5 goals is estimated with a coefficient of 1.85.

One of the heroes of the Euro 2024 round of 16 match between Romania and the Netherlands should be Memphis Depay, analysts predict. The Dutch striker’s goal is considered the most likely and is estimated at 2.30. Cody Gakpo can also prove his worth: at least one goal from him is available at 2.60.

The Dutch national team is, of course, considered the favourite for the upcoming match. The difference in the class of performers, past achievements, history of personal encounters – all this speaks in their favour. Therefore, it is quite natural to expect territorial and playing advantages from Ronald Koeman’s charges.
The Dutch will most likely take the ball into their hands, i.e. their feet, from the first minutes and start actively charging the Romanian defence. However, trying to surprise the Romanians with this is like talking to a fish about water. They have swum in this, they know it. And how well do they know it? Just ask the Ukrainian national team.
