American sprinter Sha’Karri Richardson reached the 100m final as the ninth competitor. This happened at the World Cup for the first time in 40 years.
It was not considered the main favorite, because the Jamaican athletes Sherika Jackson, bronze medalist in Tokyo and silver medalist of the 2020 World Cup in the 100 meters, as well as the incredible Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce, three-time Olympic champion in Beijing, London and Tokyo, ran with her, a five-time 100-meter world champion.
But Richardson broke the Jamaican stars, managing to remove huge fake nails between the semifinals and the final. Apparently, this was the secret of success. The American set a world championship record. After the victory, he spoke only to black journalists. Sha’Karri won another gold in Budapest, winning the 4x100m relay with his team.
