The best esports club in Russia is Team Spirit! Championship standings in 2024

Date: October 21, 2024 Time: 17:45:37

Today we launch a new esports project: “Championship” will compare the most famous and successful esports clubs of the Russian region to identify the most successful not in a single discipline, but in all popular competitive games.

Who is better overall: Team Spirit or Virtus.pro, BetBoom Team or Aurora Gaming? We checked the results of our teams in 20 popular disciplines over the last season (since November 2023) and compiled our rating of esports clubs.

What clubs are included in the classification?

Taking into account the nuances of the current situation in esports globally, we decided to include in the list all esports organizations with three or more rosters, based on players from Russia. The exception was clubs that have only two squads (and both are Russian-speaking).

Therefore, Cloud9 and Gaimin Gladiators were not included in our list, but Team Spirit was: the “dragons” have five different rosters, and in all of them the majority of players and management staff have Russian citizenship. We also do not include clubs represented in a single discipline in the classification, focusing on multiple games.

At the same time, we still compare clubs as projects, so the results of teams from other regions (the Asian five Aurora in MLBB or the European Virtus.pro team in PUBG) are taken into account on an equal footing with the speaking ones. Russian. some.

How points were calculated

Teams received points for their performance in tournaments from November 2023 to the present. The number of points depended on three factors: the popularity of the e-sports game in Russia and the world, the importance of the tournament and the team’s result.

We have divided all popular disciplines into four levels.

Most popular games: Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends, League of Legends Popular games: Apex Legends, Valorant, PUBG, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty, and Fortnite Average games: Rocket League, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege. EA Sports FC, StarCraft 2, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. Regional games: Warcraft 3 and Standoff 2.

At world championships and major tournaments of the most popular games, teams can receive from 20 to 100 points, and in regional online events – from 5 to 30. At the same time, titles in average games bring between 25 and 40 points, and in popular games. ones Basically, in WC3 and Standoff we gave a maximum of 10 points only for the most prestigious trophies.

10th place: AMKAL and DMS (55 points each)

AMKAL ESPORTS CS 2 — 50 Showdown 2 — 5

DMS Dota 2 – 0 CS 2 – 25 Apex Legends – 30

Two young projects open the ranking with the same result. Amkal burst into esports with a Counter-Strike 2 roster and immediately made it to the World Championship in Copenhagen, but after that the results began to decline. Standoff’s roster, launched in March, only occasionally competes for titles.

In turn, DMS focuses on popular games. Dahak and his boys are the weakest in Dota 2; The tag rarely appears in famous CS tournaments, but in Apex Legends the Russian-speaking trio spent the entire season fighting for the first places in the main European and world championships. The other day the club closed its roster, but opened a roster for Deadlock, Valve’s new game.

9th place: forZe Esports (104 points)

Counter-Strike 2 — 70 Counter-Strike 2 (w) — 0 Mobile Legends — 15 Standoff 2 — 19

One of the oldest clubs in Russia has historically focused on shooters, although in June it decided to dissolve its main asset – the CS2 roster, which was consistently in the top 30 of the HLTV world rankings.

Now forZe only has academies and a very strong Standoff squad, and in August the club decided to try its luck in mobile MLBB (without evident success so far). And on October 18, the club, following Virtus.pro, took over the World of Tanks roster.

8th place: Victory Song Gamers (110 points)

Mobile Legends – 45 Mobile Legends (w) – 65

The Russian Club has two Mobile Legends squads at once. It is noteworthy that this season the girls beat the boys, taking third place at the World Cup in Riyadh: the main squad does not yet have major tournaments and is inferior to the regional leaders in the rankings.

It is worth noting that women’s esports in the MLBB are very well developed: unlike Dota, where there are almost no major tournaments, in this discipline the girls have a decent competitive system: we count points in the same way as in the men’s teams.

Speaking of prospects, it is unlikely that VSG will look to expand the club with new divisions, but it is possible that we will see this label on the world stage of the most popular mobile discipline, both among men and women.

7th place: 9Pandas (115 points)

Dota 2 — 20 Counter-Strike 2 — 70 Counter-Strike 2 (w) — 25

During the past year, the “pandas” experienced many unpleasant moments. After the top 12 at the International Dota 2 World Championship, the club lost almost all of its leaders and the lineup with the experienced Alexei Solo Berezin could not compete even in the CIS region.

A beautiful story could have been the return to the big stages of another legend: Denis took over from Kostin in CS, but could not make it to the Copenhagen Major (where the team almost miraculously qualified!) due to visa problems. The “pandas” were never able to recover from such a blow.

The club’s only overall success in the end was 9Pandas Fearless’s December bronze in the ESL Impact League, CS 2’s premier women’s tournament.

6th place: 1win Team (120 points)

Dota 2 — 110 Counterattack 2 — 10

The previously brilliant and young Contra team gradually faded away in 2024, failing in all online tournaments and open qualifiers. Now the CS 2 roster is on hiatus and 1win will return to the project, probably after the December World Championship in China, when there are free players and the start of the new season.

At the same time, the attempt to enter the professional Dota 2 scene was successful: already in the first season, the composition of young talents was clearly announced. 1win played well in the main championship of the year, The International 2024, and also reached the final of the prestigious Elite League of Peru (lost 2-3 to Team Liquid, the future champions of Inta).

5th place: Brute Force (261 points)

Mobile Legends – 130 PUBG Mobile – 131

The five strongest Russian-language projects do not open with the most famous tag. The fact is that the Club has never had a Dota or Contra roster, so many esports fans simply have not heard of the project.

At the same time, Brute Force is one of the strongest PUBG Mobile teams in the world (for example, in June the quartet won the main league of Europe, the Middle East and Africa), and the list of Mobile Legends in our region for a For a long time it was second only to Deus Vult, the current Team Spirit. However, a few days ago the club got rid of the current squad.

4th place: Team BetBoom (576 points)

Dota 2 — 325 Counter-Strike 2 — 210 Mobile Legends — 30 PUBG — 11

The Club showed the best season in Dota, surpassing even Team Spirit: the squad reached the top 3 at major championships four times and took 7th or 8th place (above our other teams) at The International 2024. However, this It wasn’t enough for the “generation of miracles,” and now BB has assembled a new lineup.

The rest of the BetBoom teams are too far away and cannot keep up with the Dota players. The lineup with Nathanya in CS 2 clearly does not live up to expectations: you can only remember a couple of trophies online, and trips to the biggest events inevitably turn into failure. In PUBG, the team is a bit short of being able to compete regularly on a global level, and the MLBB roster left the organization before the end of the season.

The resources of the BB Team allow us to open new disciplines and improve the current squads with young players, so that in the new season the club can advance even further.

3rd place: Aurora Gaming (585 points)

Dota 2 — 125 Counter-Strike 2 — 310 Counter-Strike 2 (m) — 5 Mobile Legends — 25 Apex Legends — 85 Warcraft — 35

In two years, the club grew from a modest team to a global multi-game team with six teams, including a Filipino team for Mobile Legends and an Asian squad for Dota 2.

However, Aurora’s main assets remain Counter-Strike 2 and Apex Legends. The former are not as successful on the world stage, but they play a lot and therefore sometimes take home trophies and prizes at regional level events. The latter maintain the leadership in the region, although “Apex” does not remain the most popular “battle royale” in Russia and the CIS.

At the same time, it is worth highlighting a successful season in Dota 2 (top 8 at The International and many awards, which is already great for an Asian squad) and the signing of one of the most legendary electronic athletes in the country. – Dmitry Happy Kostin, who has already brought three titles to Aurora with the best Warcraft events. Thanks to this, Aurora was several points ahead of the BetBoom Team.

2nd place: Virtus.pro (808 points)

Dota 2 — 130 Counter-Strike 2 — 485 PUBG — 40 PUBG Mobile — 20 Apex Legends — 21 Rainbow Six Siege — 30 Overwatch — 50 EA Sports FC — 0 Starcraft 2 — 5 Street Fighter — 5 Standoff 2 — 17

The Bears continue to support a large number of disciplines, including those that are popular only in Russia. Before the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, the club opened several more new teams; As a result, in addition to those included in the rating, VP has teams for Warface, Tarkov, World of Tanks and Mobile Honor of Kings.

Currently, only the Counter-Strike 2 roster is performing well on the world stage, although it has not shown the best results lately. With all the diversity of teams, the “bears” do not have enough world stars, and fans can only hope that Virtus.pro can find reinforcements in the new season.

It is noteworthy that the “bears” scored more points than Aurora Gaming in Dota 2 due to their participation in many top tournaments and major online games, although they never reached “Int”.

1st place: Team spirit (1215 points)

Dota 2 — 290 Counter-Strike 2 — 610 Counter-Strike 2 (w) — 0 Mobile Legends — 260 PUBG Mobile — 55

The Dota squad, after the second victory at The International, did not have the best season, losing the championship even in our region. But the top 12 at the Int in September and the failures during the season have something to equal: the “dragons” have the only title of our teams in 2024, even if it was the PGL Wallachia S1, where several favorites came with replacements.

Furthermore, Doterov was able to adequately replace the new Counter-Strike lineup with the young star. In February, Team Spirit won the IEM Katowice, one of the most prestigious Contra championships, and now remains among the top five teams in the world, achieving victories in every tournament they attend.

Also, in March, the “spirits” signed the best Russian team in Mobile Legends, which dominates the region and aims to compete with the Asian giants. Another find was the PUBG Mobile squad, which reached the World Cup in its debut season.

Team Spirit is the undisputed leader among clubs with Russian squads, remaining at the top of the two most popular games and adequately developing others; It will be very difficult for other organizations to overcome such “dragons”.
