Germany and Switzerland will meet their rivals tomorrow.
The European Championship break is finally over and the playoffs have begun! Two matches were played on Saturday 29 June: Italy played Switzerland and Germany played Denmark. There were some surprises: the Italians, who came to Germany as the reigning European champions, were eliminated. The Swiss national team calmly dealt with Spalletti’s team and advanced to the quarter-finals.
The match between Germany and Denmark lasted longer than usual. All because of a heavy storm in Dortmund: lightning flashed in the sky and the downpour turned into hail. According to the new UEFA recommendations, in such conditions the teams must be removed from the field, as referee Michael Oliver did in the first half. And in the second half there was drama for Denmark. Joakim Andersen scored for the first time against Germany, but the goal was disallowed for a minor offside, and literally in the next German attack the ball hit him in the hand – a penalty. Then Jamal Musiala scored the second goal and the result was done.
Who will Switzerland and Germany face in the quarterfinals?
Definitely not between them: the teams are in two different parts of the draw, so if they do meet, it will only be in the final. Germany will face the winner of the Spain-Georgia duo in the quarter-finals. Well, either England or Slovakia will prevent Switzerland from reaching the semi-finals.

Before the playoffs, many expected a great quarterfinal. At least in one part of the network, exactly where Germany is. Today we are one step closer to the quarterfinals between Germany and Spain. We’ll find out if it will take place tomorrow. Also tomorrow we will know the rival of the Swiss team.
