The IIHF named the winner in the “Best Hockey Player of the Year” category.
The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced the name of the winner in the nomination for the “Best Hockey Player of the Year” award. It was Czech hockey player Roman Cervenka.
This award recognizes players (men and women) who best demonstrate skill, determination, team success and sportsmanship on and off the ice.
Cervenka received 31.3% of the vote, slightly ahead of Swiss defender Roman Josi, who received 30.3%. Czech goalkeeper Lukas Dostal took third place (20.4%).
Other finalists for the 2024 award are Kevin Fiala (Switzerland), Erik Karlsson (Sweden) and John Tavares (Canada). Let us remember that last year the winner was Canadian forward Connor Bedard.
The criteria for selecting nominees is that players must participate in at least one IIHF tournament of any level during the year (World Championship, IWCH or JWCH), as well as in the highest level national league in the country.

Spartak signed a new contract with Ivan Morozov
Spartak signed a new two-year contract with Ivan Morozov: the agreement with the leading center forward was signed until 2026.
In his first season with Spartak, Morozov, 24, was part of a trio with Nikolai Goldobin and Pavel Poryadin. Ivan was selected for the first time to participate in the KHL All-Star Game, he scored 46 (14 + 32) points in 48 games with a utility indicator of “+16” and won 55% of faceoffs.
In total, Morozov played 174 games in the KHL, in which the forward scored 105 points, scored 39 goals and gave 66 assists with a utility indicator of “+48”. In addition to Spartak, the forward played in the KHL in Yugra, SKA and HC Sochi.
Ak Bars returned Albert Yarullin to Kazan

“Admiral” got Jack Rodewald
The admiral signed a contract with striker Jack Rodewald. According to the press service of the Vladivostok club, the agreement with the 30-year-old Canadian forward is valid until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
The new season will be Jack’s third in the KHL. Previously, the Canadian, who can play both in the center and on the wing, represented Kunlun Red Star. In his debut year in the KHL he scored 27 (12 + 15) points in 52 games. Last season he moved to Traktor, with which he reached the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup. In total, last season the Canadian played 59 games, scoring 21 (8+13) points and five more in the playoffs.
In total, the Canadian forward played 125 games in the KHL, in which Rodewald scored 53 points, scored 22 goals and gave 31 assists.
