The organizers of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris have unveiled the design for the Olympic torch.
It is made of recycled steel and has a narrow, symmetrical shape with an oblong top and bottom.
According to designer Mathieu Lehanner, the torch was inspired by equality, water and peace. All torches will be champagne colored.
For the Olympic Games 1,500 torches will be manufactured and for the Paralympics 500. The number of torches has been reduced by five times compared to the previous Games.
The fire lighting ceremony will take place in Greece on April 16, 2024. The fire will reach Marseille on the Belem sailing ship on May 8, followed by a relay route that will travel through more than 400 cities in France. The fire will be carried by 10,000 torchbearers.
We add that the Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
