Daniil Medvedev became the only Russian to reach the US Open quarter-finals in singles. His opponent in the fight for the semi-finals was Italian Jannik Sinner. The tennis players have previously met 12 times. The first six matches went to Medvedev, then five matches in a row went to Sinner, and their last match, in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2024, was won again by Daniil. Many experts called the upcoming meeting in New York a “hidden ending.” The winner of the new match will then fight one of the pair Jack Draper – Alex de Minaur.

The Russian national team is returning to the new season with two friendly matches in Hanoi. Our team’s opponents do not seem too serious: Vietnam and Thailand. Zenit is hosting a pre-season tournament, the Vladimir Kondrashin and Alexander Belov Cup. The competition will be held in St. Petersburg on September 5-6 on the KSK Arena. In one of the matches for the final, the blue-white-blue and MBA-MAI will face each other. The Moscow team had a great pre-season in China, won three matches, and after arriving in Russia it turned out to be stronger than CSKA and Parma. In total, Vasily Karasev’s team won five matches in a row. So far, Zenit has only played three matches before the start of the United League season, but won all of them very confidently. The clubs are clearly in good shape, so it will be interesting to see which of them will make it to the final of the tournament.
