The Continental Hockey League has published an official statement regarding the situation with Slovak hockey player Michal Kristof.
“The violation by the IIHF of the fundamental principle of respect for contracts and the International Transfer Regulations established by it once again demonstrates the inconsistent and politically motivated position of the IIHF towards the KHL and Russian hockey as a whole, creates dangerous precedents that can destroy the mechanism. of international transfers based on the conscientious behavior of all its participants.
The KHL condemns the actions of hockey player Krishtof. The KHL regulations and legislation provide for various mechanisms that Sochi can use in relation to it to protect its rights. “The league is ready to provide its full support to the club,” read the statement on the KHL’s official website.
The league also noted that such behavior by the IIHF could put players in the Swiss league at risk because the transfer can work both ways.
Recall that Krishtof left the Sochi location without permission. It was later learned that he signed a contract with the Swiss club Langnau until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
