Pavel Durov will be held until the evening of August 28: by then he should be released or face charges. Durov was questioned on August 26 for 12 crimes at once, including refusal to cooperate with authorities, complicity in illegal affairs, and aiding and abetting. Many public leaders have already responded to what happened. Many spoke out against the arrest, including Elon Musk and Vladislav Davankov, while others justified the arrest – among them was the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The Telegram team has already publicly stated that the messenger will continue to operate as before and the founder of the company “has nothing to hide.” French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the arrest, noting that “this is not a political arrest.”
