Opinion of the chief specialist of the FOBOS meteorological center, Evgeniy Tishkovets:
“Vietnam’s capital is on the verge of a storm that will hit the city as soon as the clock strikes midnight. The next night in Hanoi, as a warm-up, there will be showers and the air flow will increase to 16-21 m/s. During the day, the elements will begin to gain strength rapidly: wind gusts will reach storm force of 23 m/s. By 14:00 Moscow time, another 34 mm of precipitation will fall to 28 mm, and at the start of the football match the rain will fall like a wall, and another 48 mm will fall in the rain gauge during the night on Sunday; the increase will be 67 mm.
In 24 hours, 168 mm of precipitation is expected in the city, while the monthly rate is 248 mm. In comparison, Moscow is so crowded throughout the whole autumn!
Super Typhoon Yagi is now orbiting northern Hainan, literally 500 kilometres east of the Vietnamese capital. Over the next 24 hours, this atmospheric monster will go on a forced march, and by nightfall, the centre of the cyclone, the “eye” of the storm, will reach Hanoi and literally flood the metropolis of eight million inhabitants.
