Will the Netherlands return home? Analysts’ schedules for the final day of the Euro 2019 round of 16

And a real battle is expected in the match between Austria and Turkey.
On Tuesday, July 2, we will find out the final line-up of the Euro 2024 quarter-final pairings. In the last round of the round of 16, Romania will face the Netherlands and Austria will face Turkey. Which teams have the best chance of progressing? We look for the answer in the bookmakers’ quotes and analysts.

Romania – Netherlands
Few people expected to see Romania in the playoffs of the European Championship. Before the tournament, analysts considered it almost the weakest team in the tournament. And they took it and reached the round of 16 from the first place! The key was the victory over Ukraine with a score of 3:0. And in the third round, the Romanians managed to get a comfortable draw with Slovakia (1:1).
The Dutch had a more difficult path to the playoffs. On the first matchday, they had to snatch victory from Poland (2-1), with Wout Weghorst scoring the decisive goal only in the 83rd minute. This was followed by a boring 0-0 draw with France and a 2-3 defeat by Austria. The Netherlands only made it to the round of 16 from third place. But it turned out to be even better. The Netherlands were knocked out in the easiest part of the draw.

And the bookmakers believe more in a victory for the Netherlands in the round of 16. The coefficient for success in regular time is 1.45 and for a total passage – 1.18. There is little faith in Romania. A victory in regular time is estimated at 9.0 and a total passage – 4.90.
Opta analysts are also betting on the Netherlands. According to their version, the probability of Ronald Koeman’s team reaching the quarter-finals is 68%, Romania 32%.

Austria – Türkiye
Austria are one of the biggest sensations at Euro 2024. Ralf Rangnick’s team finished first in the “group of death”. The Austrians lost by a narrow score to France and then beat Poland (3-1) and the Netherlands (3-2). And they did it wonderfully, with high speed, full pressure and creating many chances.
Turkey also won two group games: first they faced Georgia (3-1) and in the third round they defeated the Czech Republic, who played 70 minutes outnumbered (2-1). Vincenzo Montella’s team finished second in the group, having lost to Portugal (0-3) in the second game. This deprived them of the opportunity to overtake their rivals with the same number of points.

In March 2024, the teams met in a friendly match. The match ended with a 6:1 victory for Austria. Türkiye is unlikely to want to repeat the story. But revenge, of course. But the bookmakers consider the Austrians to be favourites. The odds for their victory in regular time are 2.0, taking into account extra time and penalties – 1.45. The chances of the Turks are not great, but they are smaller. The bookmakers estimate their chances of winning in regular time at 4.50 and in the overall round at 2.75.
Opta is also leaning towards Austria. According to its forecast, the probability of Rangnick’s team reaching the quarter-finals is 57%, that of Turkey 43%. Austria is the favourite, but everyone gives the Turks a good chance. Can they win a play-off match at the European Championship for the first time since 2008?
