Murat Laumulin was born on January 7, 1959 in Alma-Ata. After studying at the Republican School of Physics and Mathematics in the capital, he entered the special department (German language) of the Faculty of History of the Kazakhstan State University named after Kirov, then continued his studies at the graduate school from the Moscow State University in Moscow and the USSR Academy of Sciences.
Over the years, he worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Department of International Security and Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Germany, and the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs. He is the author of more than forty books and monographs, more than a thousand articles, he hosted the “International Panorama” TV show on the “Astana” TV channel.
He was fluent in Russian, German, French, Spanish, English, Latin and Hindi. It should be noted that the book “Kazakhs: Children of the Steppes”, written by him in collaboration with his brother Chokan Laumulin and published in the UK, “became a bestseller “.
