“A demand has been sent to stop the recruitment of Colombian citizens to participate in wars abroad,” the statement said.
However, it is not specified to whom this request is addressed.
Meanwhile, Colombian authorities said they are aware of three of their citizens detained in the Russian Federation on suspicion of participating in hostilities on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Bogotá requested consular access to these people.
The Colombian Congress could soon consider amendments to the law banning the recruitment of its citizens.
