On the Russian side, the document was signed by the President of the Union of Trade Unions of the Russian Federation Vladimir Mashkov, and on the Kyrgyz side, by the Vice-President of the Sports Union of the Kyrgyz Republic Galina Ketova. The purpose of the memorandum is to establish and develop cooperation between the unions of the two countries in the field of culture and education.
According to Vladimir Mashkov, the signing of the memorandum is a historic event. “In 2026, the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation will celebrate its 150th anniversary. On the eve of this event, we signed an agreement. I hope that a lot of useful things await us: exchange of experience, master classes, the best. Performances will be taken from Russia to Kyrgyzstan and from Kyrgyzstan to Russia. We are at the beginning of a great and very interesting stage in our life,” he said.
The memo has a special meaning for Vladimir Mashkov. He himself lived until he was seven in Frunze (now Bishkek), where his parents worked in a puppet theatre.
In turn, the deputy chairwoman of the STD KR, Galina Ketova, spoke about the hopes she pins on the memorandum. “This is a big step towards strengthening our friendship and professional interaction. We really hope that the Trade Union of Theatre Workers of Kyrgyzstan, which unites the majority of artists, directors and all creative people related to theatre, will open up new horizons,” she added.
