Last December, the Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy opened in Sochi under the direction of Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva. Talented gymnasts from all over Russia come to train here. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, girls take their first steps in big sports. Alina Kabaeva frequently visits her students and observes how classes are going.
The academy not only trains those who have already achieved their first successes in rhythmic gymnastics, but also those who are just beginning to get involved in this sport. Alina personally participates in the selection of additional educational groups for preschool children. Children who dream of being gymnasts are barely three years old. But they already have a unique opportunity to learn from the Olympic champion.

Little Alice first saw Kabaeva on television and began to imitate the gymnast’s movements. The girl was good at it and her parents decided to take her to the academy. Until now, the little girl does not understand very well what the Olympic champion asks of her, but she diligently complies with all of her requests.

While working with Alisa, Kabaeva sat the girl on her lap and asked her to stretch her legs.
“Can you get out a shot glass? Who prepared you? Mother?” – asks the famous gymnast.
The embarrassed Alice did not respond and only nodded her head, shaking her two cheerful tails.

The blonde and blue-eyed baby won the hearts of the public. And Alina herself seemed to be satisfied with the lesson. Kabaeva really enjoys what she loves and strives to share her skills with beginning gymnasts.
“At the beginning, when the academy was built, we had classrooms. My dream was that children would come from the age of three and not only be able to train for free, but also study,” Kabaeva said earlier.
At the academy, young athletes not only train, but also acquire new knowledge. Its schedule is structured so that sports blend harmoniously with general education. After training, they go to classes where they study with teachers.
“First of all, raise a good person and then a champion,” says Alina.

After our gymnasts were unfairly judged at the 2020 Olympic Games, Kabaeva organized the “Heavenly Grace” international tournament, a unique experimental competition. In recent years, the International Gymnastics Federation has constantly simplified the rules to give athletes the opportunity to somehow compete with the Russian champions, who have always been head and shoulders above the rest.

In Sochi, young gymnasts compete according to more complex rules. According to Kabaeva, these conditions allow a return to the “gold standard” of the early 2000s, when she competed on international stages.
