The first reports of “big water” appeared on August 16. The next day, a state of emergency was introduced in the villages of Utata and Sanaga.
On August 17, a maximum alert regime was introduced in the city of Zakamensk, where 11,000 people live. As a result of heavy rains, the Dzhida River reached the floodplain. The owners of the plots of the non-profit dacha association “Gornyak” were urged to leave the dachas.
In the area “Toreysky meadow” for an indefinite time closed the entry of all types of transport. Here they organized the duty of the traffic police crew.
According to the Buryat Civil Defense and Emergency Agency, starting on the morning of August 18, three housing plots were flooded in the republic over the last day. 33 plots have been released from the water, of which 30 plots are located in the Utata settlement, one in Zakamensk and two in the village of Zhemchug in the Tunkinsky district.
Now 126 sites are flooded, where 422 people live, including 156 children. Three sections of highway were flooded: two in Zakamensky and one in the Dzhidinsky district.
