A passenger on the flight from Sochi to St. Petersburg was sentenced in Saratov – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 05:57:41

As reported on the website of the Saratov District Court, the crew of a plane flying on the Sochi – St. Petersburg route three months ago, on January 17, was forced to abort the flight due to the hooligan actions of a woman .

During the trial it was established that the passenger lit an electronic cigarette in the cabin of the plane. First, the flight attendants tried to stop such actions, which violated the rules of conduct for passengers on board, and then the plane commander addressed the troublemaker over the loudspeaker.

After this, the passenger went to the rear of the ship and there tried to open the plane’s emergency door, pulling it by the handle. After unsuccessful attempts to calm the woman, the flight attendants used force and “immobilized” the troublemaker, who resisted and kicked them “multiple times.” As a result, the plane crew made an unscheduled landing at Saratov’s Gagarin Airport, where the thug was handed over to the police.

In court, the defendant admitted her guilt and said she did not remember most of what happened during the flight.

The court considered the woman’s actions to be “vandalism committed with violence on board an aircraft” and sentenced her to 300 hours of compulsory labor.

The ruling, according to the court’s press service, has not yet come into force.
