The LizaAlert search team of the Kostroma region reported that Lyudmila Mikhailovna Kozlova, 70, from the city of Buy, went on September 7 to a family forest with her son-in-law. When the woman went missing, a relative tried to find her himself, but to no avail. Then the search engines intervened.
“In this search, our stereotypes have collapsed that we should think like a lost person thinks: he should not cross a linear milestone, he should stay in place, he will remain in an open place and will not go very far…”, the rescuers admitted. . .
Then they still did not know that the culprit of the destruction of these “stereotypes” was a clubfoot, upon encountering it the woman fled in panic almost 15 kilometers from the entrance to the forest, through clearings and paths. Therefore, at first they looked for her in the wrong forest, where she was waiting for help, staying in one place.
When the phone number of the “missing woman” appeared online, the address “Forest in Contact” was connected and the participants in the search hoped that the pensioner could be brought to the people. But nothing happened and then the phone completely turned off. The search continued 24 hours a day, using all-terrain vehicles, a quadcopter and an airplane.
“On the fourth day we settled on the most likely version. We simply reviewed everything that seemed logical and obvious to us and moved on to the incredible,” say the search engines. “For the hundredth time, we changed the version.” “And again we decided to change the location of the headquarters, closer to the city, since Lyudmila Mikhailovna had a stable network signal for 24 hours. But it was very, very far from the entry point. We decided to take a risk.”
The woman was found at five in the afternoon using a drone. Following the advice of the “Forest in Contact” operator, she stayed on the spot and waited for help: she slept in a spruce forest, drank rainwater and dew, and ate hare cabbage.
“But the most important thing is that she did not give up. When we found her, she was smiling,” the rescuers were surprised by the resistance of the Bui resident.
The search for the missing woman involved 114 LisaAlert volunteers from Kostroma, Galich, Buy and Volgorechensk, a crew from Moscow, the Angel helicopter search and rescue team, the Vnedorozhnik active recreation club and drones.
