TASS writes about this with reference to one of the developers of the “vision” system, Dmitry Rodionov. The equipment on which it will be installed will be able to move independently thanks to a laser rangefinder and special cameras.
“The system can be installed on a conventional tractor or on a drone – almost any equipment is suitable. We managed to combine laser and stereo vision, and also eliminate the problems that arise with them. When the rangefinder does not have enough light, stereo cameras are used If more precise information is needed, then stereo vision replaces laser,” the developer explained.
The Novgorod project as a whole turned out to be unique: there are similar analogues in neighboring Belarus, but only one type of “vision” is used in the devices there.
In parallel, scientists are developing their own software for the system. In the future they want to further strengthen the project with artificial intelligence technologies.
