According to Sky News, Needham played for South Yorkshire lower division club Rossington, but at some point her opponents began refusing to play against her.
As a result, Needham left the team and contacted the Football Association of England with a complaint of discrimination against her and asked that the issue be resolved peacefully.
“Our team has experienced that many of our opponents are unwilling to play against us while I am on the field. This has led me to investigate this incident of discrimination. I believe this is a violation of the diversity and inclusion code of conduct. “It is the best for my club and for my teammates who support me, I have decided not to play for the club in the foreseeable future,” he said.
The FA said it was working to resolve the situation.
This case is far from the first in world sport in which women refuse to speak out against transgender people. Some federations have already announced that transgender athletes cannot compete with women.
