The metallurgical company Acerinox Europa, has today presented to the workforce a proposal for a collective agreement to close the open labor dispute after completing 75 days of strike and road closures next to the steel plant that the company has in the Cadiz town of Los Barrios. . .

Within the framework of the open negotiation with the committee of the Andalusian Labor Relations Council (CARL), Acerinox has issued a statement with its proposal. It includes points related to the remuneration of the workforce, voluntariness of availability measures, production bonuses and adaptation of working hours to avoid a Temporary Employment Regulation File (ERTE).

Acerinox’s approach in the Spanish factory also includes a salary increase based on the CPI forecasts for the coming years, with an increase of 2.25% for 2024 and 2% for the following years, together with the Agreement proposal until 2027.

It also proposes a system of remuneration guarantees of up to an additional 0.5% in the event that inflation exceeds the agreed fixed amounts. Acerinox also proposes a production premium with new coefficients that would allow it to obtain import improvements of between 600 and 700 euros, and raise the minimum premium.

Regarding the regime of availability and adaptation of working hours to avoid ERTE, the company emphasizes that it is a voluntary regime and with the aim that, “in times of crisis, employment remains sustainable.” It offers workers who take advantage of this scheme a fixed amount of 300 euros and another additional amount of a maximum of 50 euros for each call.

Regarding the committee’s demand to receive financial compensation for the days that the staff has been on strike, the company has refused, alleging that it is a “legal procedure suspended by mutual agreement.”

The strike committee, meeting today, Friday, is studying a response to this proposal, which must be transferred to CARL mediation to try to overcome the conflict situation.
