More security for users and owners. That is what Airbnb is looking for now with its new strategy and plan, because now probably the identity verification of each and every guest and host in Spain. The tourist platform has the objective of ending fraud or holding unauthorized parties, which is why users will have to carry out this step before booking accommodation or before receiving travelers, according to the company in a statement on Monday.
The initiative joins the company’s recent alliance with the National Police and online security experts Confianza Online, by which users will be protected whenever they carry out the reservation and payment processes within the Airbnb page. The company intends with this measure to guarantee greater security when selecting accommodation and therefore foster confidence within the platform for the future and ensure that stays will not generate problems.
New reservation control
With these actions, it also seeks to put an end to unauthorized parties, for which they had a reservation control technology since August 2020 with which to identify those with a high potential risk of leading to irresponsible behavior. Since the implementation of this tool, there has been a 55% decrease in party complaints on the platform, says Airbnb.
In addition, the online booking application has other instruments to improve the operation of the application, such as a quality system for hosts, which has served to eliminate more than 1,000 advertisements that did not meet the quality and trust standards in Spain. It also offers hosts a free noise sensor and requires postal verification of all accommodation offered in Barcelona.
