“My paternal grandfather, Nikolai Petrovich Aksenov, fought in tank forces. The war began in defense of Orzhonikidze and ended in Prague,” wrote the head of the republic.
Nikolai Petrovich was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, two medals “For Courage”, the medals “For the Capture of Berlin” and “For the Liberation of Prague.”
“Grandma Maria Konstantinovna served in aviation, repairing aircraft weapons,” said Sergei Aksenov.
Maria Konstantinovna was awarded the medals “For Military Merit” and “For Victory over Germany.”
Another maternal grandfather, Semyon Ivanovich Pelikhaty, participated in the Vistula-Oder operation, during which he was seriously injured: his leg was torn off.
“My grandfather was sent to a military hospital in Ufa, where he met my grandmother Tatyana Sergeevna, who worked in the hospital. This is a front-line love story,” wrote the Crimean head.
Semyon Ivanovich was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War.
“Like all of us, I try to be worthy of the memory of my relatives. Their names are forever inscribed in the history of my family, in the history of the country and the Great Victory,” added Sergei Aksenov.
Sergei Aksenov’s son Oleg continues the work of his great-grandfathers. In September 2022 he was drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and since then he has been participating in the Northern Military District in the ranks of the Marine Corps reconnaissance unit. It is known that last year Aksenov Jr. served in the Melitopol leadership. The father rarely talks about his son’s military life.
“He serves like everyone else last week he was on duty in the economic department, at night, on duty, everything is as it should be,” Sergei Aksenov spoke succinctly about his son’s service in March last year.
