Alexander Fury will hold an exhibition and sale of the John Galliano archives

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 06:12:22

Fashion critic Alexander Fury, who works for the Financial Times and Another Magazine, organizes an exhibition and partial sale of two hundred items from John Galliano’s archival collections. The exhibition will take place during the Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris. WWD writes about it.

The place of the exhibition was the mansion of the legendary socialite Sao Schlumberger. It was there that the Galliano show for the autumn-winter 1994-1995 season took place. As a teenager growing up in the north of England in the 1990s, Alexander Fury saved money and bought fashionable clothes from John Galliano, the exhibition advertisement says. The event was organized by the French site for the resale of luxury items Re-See.

“I’m lucky to have about nine sets from this show. What I love about them is that they are an innate invention, born out of necessity: the same color, the same fabrics, reused and reused. For example, the jackets are offered inside out to transform silhouettes. There’s a simplicity to its complexity, which I think is the mark of true genius,” says Fury.

Earlier it became known that the work of John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood was put up for auction. We talk about it in more detail here.
