An American animal rights organization has demanded that ride manufacturers remove toy horses from carousels.
The largest company in the United States, Chance Rides, which produces carousels, has already received the corresponding letter.
Animal rights activists justify their demand by saying that by seeing and riding toy horses, people “normalize the use of animals as a means of transportation and entertainment.” And as an alternative, he suggests replacing horses with excavators, brooms, stars and spaceships.
– Teach children respect and compassion for all living and sentient beings to create a more just and merciful world. – says the president of the organization, Ingrid Newkirk. – Carousels with toy animals unintentionally glorify the exploitation of sentient beings.
The organization boasted that such initiatives have already forced several manufacturers to change their logos, advertisements and finished products. For example, the supermarket chain Trader Joe’s has removed images of elephants from the packaging of some products.
